YEARLY DISTRICT/COUNCIL ACTIVITIES & TRAINING:
DISTRICT COMMITTEE MEMBERS GET TRAINED: During January of each year adult scouters receive training for District Committee positions from Capitol Area Council. This is referred to as the District Committee Training Workshop. All District Committee members need to plan to register through Capitol Area Council and attend even if for a review. (San Gabriel District Chairman contacts and invites all committee members, possible committee recruits and members-at-large to attend.)
DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS GET TRAINED: During January of each year commissioners as adult scouters receive training in their positions from Capitol Area Council. This is referred to as Commissioner's College. All unit and round table commissioners need to plan to register through Capitol Area Council and attend even if for a review. There is a Bachelors to Doctorate program offered at Commissioner's College. (Unit Commissioners receive their "basic training" which is offered at various times throughout the year and administered by Capitol Area Council volunteers. Please register through CAC Capitol Area Council, if needed.)
UNIVERSITY OF SCOUTING: At the end of January a large gathering of adult scout leaders from all levels meet in a centralized campus setting to attend classes of scouting interest. This is an excellent time to mingle and learn fresh and new ideas for any level of scouting. Capitol Area Council sponsors this event and it has been held the past couple of years at St. Edward's University with a beautiful view of Austin. Please register through CAC Capitol Area Council, if needed.)
DISTRICT EAGLE & TOP SCOUT AWARDS RECEPTION: (Has been in January) [Advancement committee organizes]
(In 2014 Crew & Ship 911 organized this for the first time.)
DISTRICT AWARD OF MERIT & AWARDS DINNER: A dinner event honoring the adult scouters in San Gabriel District.
Please sign-up and pay in advance. This has been a catered dinner.

CUB SCOUT RESIDENT CAMP: (Cub World is for overnight camping at Tom Wooten Camp which is part of Lost Pines Scout Reservation -- a Boy Scout Camp in Bastrop. (Early registration has been $80. per scout until 5/15/14 and $100. for those registering after that early deadline of 5/15/14. Usually registrations are done by each pack or individual through_ .)

to introduce the Webelos Scouts to the San Gabriel District Boy Scout Troops.] It would be nice
to get a Webelos Woods started up in San Gabriel District.)

Units usually register as a group; but, possibly individual's can register on one's own as a "Provisional Scout" where they either join in with a bunch of other "Provisional Scouts" to f form a temporary troop or join in with an established troop which would have room for another scout to join in.
